WCS 6

WCS 6 and VNS 2 are XP-era and run under 32-bit Windows XP, 64-bit XP, and 32-bit Vista. They do not work with 64-bit Vista. According to 3D Nature, WCS 6 and VNS 2 have not been tested with nor are they supported on Windows 7. They may work with 32-bit Windows 7 but are not expected to work with 64-bit Windows 7. That's the official word from 3D Nature. Since WCS 6 and VNS 2 were developed to run on Windows XP, it makes sense that they're not supported on a newer operating system under which they weren't rigorously tested.

Currently, the only option is to dual-boot the machine with 64-bit XP. Setup is easy and allows you to run VNS 2 or WCS 6.

This is only an issue for hobbyist users and a handful of professionals still using WCS 6. Most terrain visualization professionals are using the GIS-savvy VNS 3.

VNS 3

VNS 3 runs under 32-bit Windows XP, 64-bit XP, 32-bit Vista, 64-bit Vista, 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7.
